Tautphaus Park & Museum of Idaho Titanic Display

July 17, 18 and 19, my mom, Tayler, Kenzie and I went to Idaho Falls for Tayler's softball tournament. We ended up having a lot of time to mess around with on Saturday. We went to the Zoo at Tautphaus Park. They were having an education day. There were education stations through out the zoo with things to do. Tayler and Kenzie loved it! They got a stamp at each station and then when they had them all finished they got a badge. They also did a scavenger hunt and won a stuffed animal. Kenzie played a game and won a stuffed bear. They even smashed a penny. What a fun and educational day! Then we went to the Museum of Idaho and looked at the Titanic Display. When you bought a ticket you got a boarding pass. It gave you the name of a passenger, their age, cabin number and little bit of history about them. When you got to the end of the display there was a list of the passengers and you got to look up your person to see if you made it or were lost. My person was Mr. William Gilbert. He was a 47 year old male from Cornwall, England. He traveled alone in 2nd class. His cabin number was unknown. He was going to Butte, Montana. He had worked for several years with his father in Montana. He had traveled to England for a three-month holiday. He was lost and never returned. Tayler was a 61 year old male named Mr. Arther Larned Ryerson from Haverford, Pennsylvania. He was accompanied by his wife, Children Suzette (21), Emily (18), and John (13). He also had a maid. He was in first class in cabin #B-57-59-61-63. His family traveled to Europe to find suitable European husbands for the older girls. Shortly after they arrived in Europe, they received news that their son had been killed in an automobile accident. The family hurried back on the first ship available in order to attend his funeral. He was also lost. I should have checked for the rest of the family and the maid, but I didn't. It was very interesting to read the stories of these people. Some of them were so heroic in their final hours, others were completely selfish and nasty. I really was impressed with this display. When then went shopping at the mall, my mom finally could take no more walking so we went back to the room. It was a very fun day. I loved spending time with the "girls."

Kenzie with the bear she won!

Kenzie made sure she didn't get to close, she chucked the food over the fence.

Tayler got right up close to feed the animals.

Notice the awesome badges on their shirts.

Kenzie's paw is the one not colored in. She was in such a hurry to get all the stations finished!

Tayler's paw. Tayler was more concerned about learning everything, not hurrying.

Hanging out!
